Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has driven innovation in learning media in Junior High Schools (SMP), but its utilization is not yet fully optimal and equitable. This article aims to identify research trends and gaps in the development of technology-based learning media at the junior high school level through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The literature search process was conducted using the Google Scholar database for scientific articles published between 2016 and 2026, with keywords relevant to technology-based learning media and junior high school education. Article selection was carried out systematically through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, taking into account predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review results indicate that the dominant technology-based learning media developed include interactive multimedia, mobile applications, learning videos, and e-learning platforms, which generally focus on increasing student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. However, research gaps are still found, especially in aspects of user needs analysis, media integration with junior high school student characteristics, evaluation of the sustainability of media use, as well as limitations in teacher digital competence and technology access in schools. This article is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of research trends and gaps, as well as serve as a basis for recommendations for developing more contextual, effective, and sustainable technology-based learning media at the junior high school level.
