Peer Review Policy

The publication of articles in Harati: The Journal of Science Education (HJSE) is based solely on scientific validity, originality, and clarity, as evaluated by the editors and peer reviewers. All submitted manuscripts are assessed for their contribution to the field of science and science education. The journal highly appreciates the valuable contributions and constructive feedback provided by its reviewers.

Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts

All manuscripts submitted to HJSE are first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editors. At this stage, manuscripts may be:

  • Accepted (rare cases) if deemed highly exceptional
  • Rejected if they:
    • Lack originality
    • Contain significant scientific flaws
    • Fall outside the journal’s focus and scope

Manuscripts that meet the minimum requirements will proceed to the peer-review process.

Type of Peer Review

HJSE implements a double-blind peer review process.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers who are experts in relevant fields.
  • Reviewers evaluate:
    • Scientific rigor and coherence
    • Originality and contribution
    • Clarity of presentation
    • Relevance to the journal scope

To ensure objectivity, reviewers are selected carefully to avoid any conflict of interest, including institutional affiliation with the authors.

Review Reports

Reviewers are requested to assess whether the manuscript:

  • Clearly states research objectives and identifies the research gap
  • Uses appropriate and sound methodology
  • Follows ethical research standards
  • Presents results clearly and supports conclusions
  • Properly cites and acknowledges relevant previous studies

Reviewers are not required to perform language editing or copyediting, but may provide suggestions for improvement.

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The Editor-in-Chief holds the final decision and may consult with the Editorial Board when necessary. The decision is final and binding.
