Improving the Learning Outcomes of Grade IX Students of SMPN 4 Seruyan Tengah Using the Guided Inquiry Model on the Material of Soil and Sustainability of Life

Education is one of the efforts to improve the quality of human resources, namely through the
learning process. Where through education it is expected to run evenly, one of which is in the learning process at Junior High School 4 Seruyan Tengah, Central Kalimantan. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes and student activities of class IX Junior High School 4 Seruyan Tengah through the use of guided inquiry learning models. The method applied in this study is the Classroom Action research method which was carried out in 2 cycles. The subjects of this study were 22 class IX students of Junior High School 4 Seruyan Tengah. Data collection techniques in the form of observation and tests to obtain data in the form of student activities and student learning outcomes. The results showed that student learning activities increased from cycle 1 to cycle 2, namely from 65% to 85%. Then student learning outcomes have achieved classical completeness, namely from cycle 1 to cycle 2, namely from 45% to 90%. The classical completeness achieved in cycle 2 has met the criteria for research success. These results indicate that the use of guided inquiry learning models has the potential to improve students' science learning outcomes and can be applied to other learning activities.
